Attorney seeks 2L, 3L, or recent law grad for PT work - $20/hour

A D.C area attorney is seeking a recent law graduate or 2L law student for legal research and writing assignments, primarily in the areas of Federal sector government contracts and employment law. This position provides valuable and immediate resume-building experience. The present value in this position is in obtaining valuable court experience and a stellar recommendation from an attorney.

Duties include legal research and writing, client interviews, taking and defending depositions, and a wide range of other legal tasks, and, additionally, clerical and administrative tasks as needed. The attorney from whom you will receive assignments requires assistance in assembling hearing exhibits, creating discovery document logs, and other paralegal assistance related to ongoing employment law cases before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), the D.C. Superior Court, and the local Federal courts. A capable law student clerk will have further opportunities to draft briefs, complaints, and memoranda of law, and possibly to witness cases in D.C. Superior Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. If you are a member of the bar, you may also have the opportunity for client contact and to appear in court and before administrative agencies.

Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and have strong research and writing skills as well as a pleasant attitude and willingness to take initiative. A law student clerk should be available to work a minimum of 15 hours a week while producing top notch work.
