THEARC Announces New Executive Director

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The Board of Directors of Building Bridges Across the River (BBAR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rahsaan Bernard as the new Executive Director of the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC). Bernard will transition from his current role as BBAR’s Director of Development effective immediately.

“Rahsaan is charismatic and engaging, and we are thrilled to have him lead THEARC,” says Chris Smith, BBAR Board Chairman. Bernard’s appointment was made after an extensive search and selection process conducted by the BBAR Board of Directors. Ultimately, Bernard’s experience, enthusiasm and commitment to THEARC’s mission made him far and away the best candidate.

"I am humbled by this appointment and am extremely excited to serve as the leader of this amazing organization,” remarks Bernard. “For nearly 12 years, THEARC has provided the children and adults living east of the Anacostia River access to quality programs, classes and cultural experiences. This is a very special time for THEARC. In addition to adding a new building to our campus, we are working diligently to bring new services and opportunities to the residents of wards 7 and 8. I look forward to collaborating with our amazing resident partners and stakeholders to continue our efforts to build a stronger, healthier and more vibrant community.”
