2017 Curbed Cup Finals: Anacostia vs. Capitol Hill -- Polls close Jan 2nd
Wow! Talk about an epic showdown! The battle between two Southeast neighborhoods! The Advoc8te has tons of love for Anacostia and Capitol Hill so this is a great day in online polls for both neighborhoods and a win for the Southeast quadrant of DC. A round of applause for the lovers of both neighborhoods for getting this far in this year's Curbed DC Curbed Cup!!!!! While the trophy may be virtual, the bragging rights are real. This a great acknowledgment of both neighborhoods.
That said, I am after-all a Ward 8 resident and I've done (and continue to do) a lot of work in Anacostia so my loyalty has to lie with the land of the Big Chair. There are so many things to love about Anacostia, the historic homes, the arts district, the small business owners, the Anacostia BID and of course the wonderful people of Anacostia. It is because of those stakeholders that the negative perception of Anacostia is evolving into one of happiness, safety and community spirit. Anacostia scored tops honors a few years ago, it would be super cool for the neighborhood to get a 2nd virtual trophy to hang on their virtual mantle. Lol.
So with that in mind, I hope that you can take a second and vote in the Curbed Cup poll. It's all in good fun, but communities east of the Anacostia river can use all the positive attention they can get. Please vote. Polls close January 2nd, the neighborhood with the most votes is announced on January 3rd -- which happens to be my 40th birthday! Give me the gift of a virtual trophy!
