Jan 22 | Eastern Market Art Series & Trainings (EAST) Kickoff with Christylez Bacon

Hill Center is pleased to announce the launch of the Eastern Market Art Series & Trainings - EAST - and invite you to share the excitement at a kickoff event on Sunday, January 22nd. This ongoing series will bring artists and children (between 7 and 12 years old) together to explore a different craft or medium quarterly. The kickoff event is free and open to the public. EAST will support the local arts community by creating an environment where artists can share their story and teach children about their craft. Kids are encouraged to express each craft or medium in their own voice. The program is dedicated to improving the lives of families in the area by giving them open and free access to arts education in music, theater, creative writing, visual arts and more. Parents and older siblings are encouraged to join the kids to share the experience and create art together.

 

Following the kickoff, Grammy®-nominated hip-hop artist Christylez Bacon will be performing! Christylez Bacon is a GRAMMY® Nominated Progressive Hip-Hop artist and multi-instrumentalist from Southeast DC. As a performer, he multi-tasks between various instruments such as the West African djembe drum, acoustic guitar and the human beat-box (oral percussion), all while continuing the oral tradition of storytelling through his lyrics. Tickets are available in advance for $20 and $25 at the door.
