Film summary: For many Black women, transitioning from a perm to a kinkier hairstyle requires courage. Straight hair symbolizes the standard of beauty and deciding to embrace one’s natural curly texture is not always celebrated. Kinks, Locs, and Love dives into the lives of Black women primarily in the Washington, D.C. area who decided to “go natural” and follows their hair journey. Kinks, Locs, and Love also profiles the natural hair community including, natural hair event organizers, businesses, fashion models, and bloggers. Click here to view a teaser of the film.
