Goldstar Alert: $10 tickets for this Friday's Kim Jordan concert @THEARC Theater!

Gospel-jazz trailblazer Kim Jordan pays tribute to legendary jazz poet Gil Scott-Heron at Double Time Jazz@THEARC. Called "the godfather of rap" and "the black Bob Dylan," Gil Scott-Heron fused jazz, soul and funk with social commentary delivered with vocal virtuosity on compositions like "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." For over 30 years, Kim Jordan toured the world with Scott-Heron as his musical director until his death in 2011. She's also collaborated with Taj Mahal, in the Broadway production of Zora Neale Hurston's Mule Bone, and performed with Mahal at the White House, in addition to performing with such artists as Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder, Regina Carter, Common and more. Now this multitalented singer, keyboardist and producer comes to Washington, D.C.'s THEARC Theater to pay tribute to her greatest collaborator, Gil Scott-Heron.
