Announcing 2016 Ward 8 Home Buyers Club!

Brought to you by our friends at the 11th Street Bridge Park, a project of Building Bridges Across the River at THEARC.

By Sarah Scruggs, MANNA’s Director of Advocacy and Outreach

Are you one of the 75% of residents renting in Ward 8? Are you interested in owning property in your neighborhood? Then the Ward 8 Homebuyers Club could be for the place for you!

MANNA is partnering with the 11th Street Bridge Park to offer a monthly Homebuyers Club supported by a grant from The Kresge Foundation. Participants will receive resources about buying a home, peer support and financial education. The club will also provide a window into new and forthcoming Ward 8 housing developments.

For over 25 years, thousands of first-time homebuyers have been coming to MANNA to get themselves ready for homeownership. Graduates have pursued the dream of a stable home for their families, building wealth to pass along to future generations and affecting positive change in the city that they know and love. Do not let others tell you it’s not possible! MANNA has helped residents making as little as $20,000 a year purchase property in D.C. We are looking for participants who are current Ward 8 residents who have a willingness to learn and put in the work to transform this hope a reality. We will be there every step of the way with encouragement and support!

MANNA will begin scheduling participant interviews for the Ward 8 Homebuyers Club in January. Interested in learning more? Contact us at 202.534.1038 or 202.534.1039 or email pjohnson@mannadc.org. You can also join us at one of these upcoming community meetings.

The first Homebuyers Club meeting will take place at 2235 Shannon Place SE on Tuesday evenings beginning in late February.
