Aug 4 | National Night Out
As you may know, National Night Out is held the first Tuesday in August (August 4, 2015). It is a day for law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve to share an evening with an event or celebration to commemorate and develop partnerships.
National Night Out is designed to:
Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
This year, the Metropolitan Police Department Seventh District, along with the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative, U.S. Coast Guard, and the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations and Services will host the 2015 National Night Out at St. Elizabeths Gateway Pavilion, 2700 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue SE. The starting time is 5:00pm. The event will feature Recognition of National Night Out Community Awards, Crime Prevention Initiatives, Health & Wellness Screenings, Safety Demonstrations, Games, Food, Fun and Entertainment.
