The Advoc8te honored as one of Urbanful's '20 People Making D.C.'

Of all the talented people working hard to make D.C. the happening place it is, it is very flattering (and frankly surprising!) to be included on this list -- the first -- by Urbanful, a new online publication highlighting urban living.

The Advoc8te (AKA Nikki Peele) is very honored to have been featured in such great company as  Veronica Davis, Ward 7 resident and owner of NspireGreen, Greater Greater Washington founder David Albert, Busboys and Poets founder Andy Shallal, and the all of the talented honorees who are making a difference in D.C. You can read all about all twenty honorees HERE.

If you are so inclined, you can read (and comment -- I hope nicely!) on my mini profile HERE. A longer feature will be coming out over the next few weeks. I hope you enjoy it -- lord knows my crazy schedule makes it very difficult for anyone to track me down. Kudos to the reporter for sticking it out with me. :)

Six years ago I started this blog to help spread the good word about all the wonderful things I had come to love about east of the river. My goal was small: encourage people to interact with one another and provide a new (and more accurate) narrative about life in Ward 7 and Ward 8. I never imagined it would take me on such an amazing and fulfilling journey and that during the process I would get to start my own company, reSPIN and get to work with such great organizations such as ARCH Development Corporation. The past seven years have been so rewarding and I am so excited about where the journey will lead us next.

Thank you all for your support, trust, and feedback. It is because of you that anyone thinks I am even remotely interesting enough to include on any list - and that in of itself is pretty dope. :)

XOXO
The Advoc8te AKA Nikki

P.S. Hugs to my dear friend and fabulous photographer Tommie Adams Jr. of Anacostia for taking time out of his busy schedule and sharing his amazing talent to give me some new last minute headshots!

Now that is Southeast Love to the max!
