The Ward 8 Farmers Market Opening Celebration will take place in conjunction with THEARC’s Community Wellness Fair on Saturday, June 7th from 9AM-2PM in the parking lot of THEARC.
This annual event was designed to re-introduce residents of Ward 8 and beyond to organic fresh fruit & vegetable offerings.
According to the DC Department of Health, only 32% of Ward 8 residents consume fresh fruits and vegetables, due to accessibility and cost. In order to meet the needs of our community and patrons, vendors of the W8FM accept WIC, SNAP & senior vouchers. THEARC is located on four different public transportation bus routes and are near two major rail stations. This year, the goal is to introduce a regular calendar of activities throughout the summer and fall months which will not only provide free, healthful activities for youth & adults, but entice new customers. In addition to the market offerings, community members will have access to free yoga, cooking
