CM Tommy Wells to live off of minimum wage salary for a week
I really dig this. It is one thing to issue a press release, another to put your money where your mouth is. Kudos to Councilmember (and DC Mayoral Candidate) Tommy Wells for trying to put himself in someone else's shoes -- even temporarily. Although this a short-term experiment it still has value. Councilmember Wells will be documenting his experiment on Twitter (@TommyWells), be sure to follow if you can.
P.S. I would love to see an experiment with members of the DC City Council and DC Agency Directors trying to live for a week in a Ward 8 resident's shoes. Imagine trying to get all of one's basic needs and amneties serviced within Ward 8 -- while on public transportation. Imagine trying to get a cab to and from "Southeast." I am sure it would be an eye opener to say the least.
