Are we the victims or the victors?
I've been thinking a lot lately about narratives, particularly as they relate to how east of the river stories are framed. Are the people of "Southeast" (what most people incorrectly think of as east of the river) seen as the pitiful victims in need of saving? Heartless thugs to be avoided at all costs? Or are we seen as the determined victors in our own story? Most importantly, are we seen as a collection of individuals with hopes, dreams, challenges, and experiences?
I wonder.
I wonder.
