WC Smith recently submitted a planned-unit development application to build the tentatively named Archer Park — a 190-unit affordable rental apartment complex fronting Mississippi Avenue SE, and 71 for-sale townhomes along Trenton Place and 10th Place SE. The 7.5-acre site is roughly a seven minute walk, uphill, to the Congress Heights Metro Station and the St. Elizabeths east campus.
The PUD seeks a zoning change from low to moderate density residential. The apartments will be constructed in two buildings, connected by a one-story amenity building. The renderings suggests there will be a large amount of green space between the apartments and townhomes, in addition to a green roof.
