VOLUNTEERS WANTED TO SPREAD CHRISTMAS CHEER AT SAINT ELIZABETHS

You Are Invited to Celebrate Christmas Eve or Christmas Day 2012 at Saint Elizabeths Hospital

Please read this entire email, as the details for 12-24 and 12-25 are slightly different.

1.      We are seeking 25 volunteers (13 years or older – any volunteer under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian) to assist on Christmas Eve. Volunteers participate in an orientation at 9:30 am and volunteer until 1:30 pm.

2.      We are seeking 15 volunteers (18 years or older) to assist on Christmas Day. Volunteers participate in an orientation at 9:30 am and volunteer until 1:30 pm.

WHAT: Celebrate the holiday with individuals in care - socialize, play board games, make table decorations, carol, and help to serve a buffet lunch.

WHERE: Saint Elizabeths Hospital, 1100 Alabama Avenue SE, Washington DC – conveniently located atop the Congress Heights Metro Station on the Green Line. Parking is free on campus and we also have a bike rack. (Detailed directions will be sent to volunteers a few days beforehand.)

WHY: To share the spirit of the holidays with individuals in care who do not have families or cannot be with their loved ones. At no cost, you can give someone a huge gift.

DRESS CODE: Wear something RED or Green. Guitars or other musical instruments also welcome (there will be a keyboard on site).

THE SMALL PRINT: Deadline for signing up is December 20th (or whenever we reach our goal of 25 volunteers for Christmas Eve and 15 volunteers for Christmas Day. Each volunteer should sign themselves up by sending me their cellphone number and email address. Adult volunteers must bring a government-issued picture ID for access to the campus and Hospital.
