My Students: Do you remember that one book that still sticks with you today? I want my AP students to have that same feeling when thinking back to their senior year of high school!
My students are the brightest of the bright at a high school that has performed at the bottom of the list of DC high schools for the past 20 years. My students are the success stories among the staggering statistics of of high school dropouts at their school. I have had the honor of teaching many of these students when they were in my 10th grade honors English class and I am now privileged enough to teach them their senior year in Advanced Placement Literature and Composition. They are so very excited to take on the task of a college level course and I'm thrilled to have such a motivated group of students!
My Project: Every spring high school students across America sit down for an AP test. This year, as my students prepare for such a rigorous test, I want to make sure they are fully prepared. Two of the novels we'll be reading contain themes that I know my students will relate to and will expand their vision of the world. The novels of Franz Kafka and James Baldwin are sure to inspire thoughtful conversations and insightful essays from my AP class and expose them to college level texts.
My students have shown that they want an excellent education by taking on the task of an AP course and they deserve the resources to tackle the AP test with confidence. I encourage you to donate and help provide 17 young people the opportunity to do what many of the people in their community don't have the chance to do--become college bound.hide»
