Due to a major facility lighting upgrade project, the public spaces of the Anacostia Community  Museum (the galleries and a program room) will be closed from Monday, May 7 - Sunday, July  29, 2012. During the temporary closing of the public spaces, the special initiative ACM: Out &  About is being presented at primarily offsite venues throughout the Washington, D.C., area.

ACM: Out & About features collaborative arts and cultural programming including the presentation of the program Citified: Arts and Creativity East of the Anacostia River at the 2012 Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the National Mall, June 27-July 1 and July 4 - 8 (see link  below). On July 30, the museum's public spaces will reopen, programming will resume on site, and the exhibition Separate & Unequaled: Black Baseball in the District of Columbia will be back on view.
