Jacque Patterson : "Generating Economic Development in Ward 8"

Dear Supporters,

Every day, Ward 8 residents are forced to spend their income in other parts of the city or go to Maryland and Virginia to shop. While other parts of the city have flourished with new dining and shopping opportunities, Ward 8 has been neglected from the economic growth of our city.  This is because over his last two terms as Councilmember, the incumbent has not put forth a strategic economic plan for the Ward.
But, you can change that!
One of my priorities of candidacy for Ward 8 Councilmember is "generating economic development" in Ward 8.  The first agenda of my economic development plan is to bring Ward 8 residents, business owners, ANCs and community leaders together with city-wide business leaders for  the first Ward 8 Business Summit.
Ward 8 residents represent a great opportunity for businesses to establish locations East of the River, but we have to have a Councilmember who will take the lead on crafting an economic development plan that incorporates the needs of the people who will patronize those businesses. That's what I am going to do, work with you to design community development plans for Good Hope Road, Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. and South Capitol Street. These areas were vibrant business districts before, and they can be again.
My economic plan includes creating a Historic Anacostia Business Improvement District, working with the Ward 8 Business Council to strengthen their capacity, fighting for increased funding for the Congress Heights Main Street program, developing Trinity Plaza and revitalizing the businesses on South Capitol Street.
Jacque Patterson means business.  When it comes to Ward 8, I am the only candidate who has the business experience as well as the business relationships to generate the economic development our residents deserve.  On April 3, let's take the first step in changing how Ward 8 does business and vote Jacque Patterson for Ward 8 Councilmember.
