Vote For @TheAdvoc8te For #DCTweeps 'Favorite DC-Area Blogger'

I'm awesome and I know it.
I was going to write a whole post explaining why I was now going to "advoc8te" for votes in a contest that I already said would be impossible for me to win but really what's the point?  I still stick by my original post that it is unlikely that EotR (at least for the time being) will make a strong showing in these types of online contests. However, as one of my former students just pointed out to me, "don't count yourself out before you try." It's funny the things kids hear when you think they aren't listening. Therefore I am going to roll with the punches (and retweets), accept it as an honor, and see if my readers give enough of a hoot to type "@TheAdvoc8te" in a box and hit "Submit."

Regardless of who "wins" it is still pretty flattering to even be considered as one of the 'favorites' - there are so many great D.C. bloggers out there. Not to mention I still don't have a logo - HELP!

So now that I have been shamed into being a good role model I am letting you know that @TheAdvoc8te (me) was nominated by the Washington Post in the 'Favorite DC-Area Blogger' category of the #DCTweeps 2011 contest.

If you enjoy reading CHotR or as a sign of support for East of the River (I'm one of the few River East nominees) feel free to cast your vote HERE by December 14th. There are other contest categories and you can make your own nominations. A complete list of rules and dates can be found HERE.

As was the case last year, this year's winners will be announced on January 3, 2012 which so happens to be my 35th birthday. So regardless if I am crowned "favorite DC anything" I will still be my mom's favorite and that is all that really matters. :)

Thank you for your support.

P.S. Did I mention that Congress Heights was so very "in" for 2011? :)

D.C.’s Top Tweeps 2011: Nomination phase

D.C.’s Top Tweeps is a way for Washington Post readers to vote for their favorites in local social media. For the second year in a row, we’re giving readers the power to nominate and elect this year’s D.C.-area favorites. We learned a lot about you in 2010, so this year we changed up our methodology:

View this year’s nominees below. We combed through more than 475 of  last year’s reader nominations to build a preliminary ballot that includes D.C. Tweeps nominees in 13 categories, from your favorite food truck to  your favorite D.C.-area blogger. We still need your help to add nominees.

Want to add a nominee? Fill out our “wildcard” nomination below. Use the form below to add your choice, then come back for a final vote anytime between Dec. 14 and Dec. 30. Winners will be announced Jan 3, 2012. Look for interviews with last year’s winners on the  Buzz Blog.
