#CivicActivism | Calvary Women's Services Finally Agree To Meet With Anacostia!

The Advoc8te was very happy to see this in my inbox. Kudos to everyone who helped spread the word and advocate on our behalf for Calvary to engage in a dialogue.

FYI- Next week's rally coordinated by Ward 8 Candidate Natalie Williams against the over-saturation of social service facilities in Ward 8 (namely the plans to open a homeless shelter on main street) is still on. Rally is Thursday, December 29th at 7am sharp in front of 1217 Good Hope Rd SE.  Join The Advoc8te, ANC 8A, Natalie Williams, residents, and community activist while we go hard (once again) for our community.

From ANC 8A02 Commissioner Charles Wilson:

Hello Everyone, Greta [Fuller, ANC 8A03 Commissioner] and I just got word that Calvary has confirmed that they will attend the community meeting on Thursday January 5, 2012 at 7pm. The meeting will be held at the Anacostia UPO Center - 1649 Good Hope Rd., SE. Special thanks to Greta for leading the way in helping to set up the meeting. Also, a big thank you to all who helped bring attention to this issue – from the petitions, emails, facebook post, protest, political relationships and blogs. We will distribute flyers the weekend before the meeting to let folks know. Please make it your best effort to attend and of course bring a neighbor! Happy Holidays,Charles

P.S. The Advoc8te is in the running for "Favorite DC-Area Blogger" in the WashPO DCTWeeps contest.
