Public Allies DC has an opening for one new AmeriCorps member, for a mid-November 2011 through July 2012 term of service. Public Allies believes that the leadership we need to solve our most pressing community problems is all around us. Public Allies advances new leadership to strengthen communities, nonprofits, and civic participation.The open Public Allies AmeriCorps member position entails a full-time service commitment:
- Apprenticing four days per week at a nonprofit that partners with youth serving organizations, to help build their leadership, operations and communications capacities.
- Leadership and professional development training among a diverse cohort of young leaders, on Fridays, at retreats, and through special events.
- Participation in an asset-focused team service project.
The living allowance is $16,000 for a ten month term of service, and is paid as a stipend of $1600 per month. Health insurance, student loan deferment and child care assistance are available.
