Ward 8 Winners: Ward 8's Democrats elected their party leaders this weekend, with the Joyce Scott defeating Natalie Williams to become president. Williams is Ward 8 Councilmember Marion Barry's former spokeswoman and ran a spirited campaign with Barry's backing. (Her defeat reminds us, as LL's been told plenty of times already, there are no coattails in D.C. politics.) Congress Heights on the Rise's Advoc8te congratulates both slates for running "a campaign race without dirty tricks, personal attacks, or general shenanigans."
