Excerpt:

Saturday is your last chance to see an exhibit about early African heritage research preserved in the Gullah-Geechee community on the coast of South Carolina and Georgia – and perhaps your first chance to set a world record.
Arts and crafts, a vendor’s marketplace and an orator’s circle are not the only things the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum is showcasing in the family event Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Rather, setting a world record is just on the tail end of all that.
The museum is encouraging public participation both during the day and to help set the record for the largest “ring shout” ever recorded at about 3 p.m.
The D.C. Gullah “ring shouters” will kick off the recording with a short presentation before asking the public to join in.
