Last month at THEARC in Congress Heights

APRIL 15
THEARC's partners along with the Fannie Mae Foundation and William C. Smith + Co. spent a beautiful day restoring our community park on Friday, April 15.  Volunteers helped clean and develop all areas of the park and ball field.

Later that day, Mayor Vincent Gray dedicated the baseball field, which will be the homefield of THEARC's Boys & Girls club baseball team, to the memory of William Lockridge.

APRIL 22
On April 22, singing-sensation Kenny Lattimore stopped by to give our youth words of wisdom and a lesson on the music business.  We were also lucky to hear him sing a great rendition of “A Song For You.”

APRIL 26
On April 26, students from The Washington Ballet at THEARC participated in Dance Is The Answer’s traveling exhibit Box O' Art, an installation created and curated by DC-based artist and educator Bruce McKaig and his team.  The installation is a traveling box which contains materials that are to be used in unique, improvised ways by dancers at each participating venue.  The students which are currently in Level 4, the highest level at THEARC, explored new movements using the pointe technique they have been working on this past year.  They were also featured on segments of the Fox 5 morning show with Paul Raphel.
