Feb 1st and 2nd: 11th Street Bridge Project Traffic Advisory
***TRAFFIC ADVISORY***
Multiple Overnight 40-Minute Closures of DC 295/I-295 Planned
Northbound on Feb. 1 and Southbound on Feb. 2
Motorists Should Choose Alternate Routes to Avoid Delay
Right Lane Closures Will Begin at 7:30 p.m.
As part of the 11th Street Bridge Project, the District Department of Transportation is scheduled to perform overnight work requiring one direction of DC295/I-295 to be closed to traffic multiple times the first two nights of February, weather permitting.
On Monday, Feb. 1, between midnight and 5 a.m. the next morning, northbound DC 295/I-295 will be closed to traffic for multiple 40-minute intervals between the 11th Street Bridge and Pennsylvania Avenue. The right lane will be closed beginning at 7:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Feb. 2, between midnight and 5 a.m. the next morning, southbound DC 295/I-295 will be closed to traffic for multiple 40-minute intervals between the Pennsylvania Avenue and Howard Road. The right lane will be closed beginning at 7:30 p.m.
In the event of inclement weather, closures and work on either night may be rescheduled to the next possible night and additional public notice will be given.
To avoid delay during these closures, motorists should choose alternative routes.
During the closures, contractors will demolish a pedestrian bridge that crosses above the highway to allow construction of ramps related to the new 11th Street Bridges. A new pedestrian bridge is to be built and open to pedestrians in the same location by Memorial Day Weekend 2010.
