'The Worst' Gas Station in Ward 8 is no longer a Chevron.

It's a Crown.

After a series of bad secret shops, a laundry list of consumer complaints,  and one irate City Paper Editor the Chevron station at MLK and Malcom X has been rebranded as a Crown gas station. Before the latest complaints Chevron had already removed the gas station from the Chevron network but hadn't followed up to ensure that all of the Chevron signage was removed. After receiving a copy of the City Paper article along with customer complaints Chevron had enough and promptly put the 'pimp hand' on the gas station  and demanded that the dealer remove any and all Chevron branding from the gas station immediately.

From the lovely folks at Chevron:
"The location as you know and the reason why we de-branded was because of the poor customer service as well as poor image. I apologize to all for the dealer not covering the ID sign on a timely basis as this may have eliminated some of the frustrations that the customers felt while trying to deal with a location that was no longer branded Chevron and may have prevented them from going into such a poorly operated site."

Now 'the worst' gas station in Ward 8 (and arguably in the District) is a Crown gas station. The Advoc8te is including pictures I took a few weeks ago during the conversion from Chevron to Crown. The gas station has now been updated to brand new Crown signage and what looks to be new lighting. Overall the station actually looks better but no word yet if with these new signs comes improved customer service and safety but The Advoc8te isn't going to bet on it -yet. Either way, it is inspiring to see how residents got involved, asked questions and demanded more for their community - in this case a clean, safe and hospitable place to pump their gas. Kudos to Chevron for taking action once this issue was brought to their attention.

The Advoc8te will try and get some pictures of the "new" Crown gas station. If anyone in the neighborhood has gotten gas at the updated station I would love to hear about their experience.

Thanks!
