WILL CELEBRATE THE FALL HARVEST THROUGH MUSIC, DANCE AND ARTS





What: Fourth Annual Arts Day at THEARC in Southeast, Washington, DC, a free community festival, highlighting the rich menu of arts programs at THEARC for new and young audiences will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. This year Arts Day will celebrate the fall harvest through music, dance and other celebrations. Doors are open to everyone—young and old—who wants to explore the potential of making the arts part of their lives. Arts Day is underwritten by The Arts Fund at THEARC, a principal supporter of which is the Howard and Geraldine Polinger Family Foundation.


Throughout Arts Day, THEARC will be filled with balloon artists, face painting and free refreshments. Levine School of Music will hold a musical petting zoo in its studios, and art and dance classes will take place in the Corcoran ArtReach and at The Washington Ballet studios at THEARC, respectively.

The program will showcase the art, music, and dance projects of children currently enrolled at Corcoran ArtReach, the Levine School of Music, and The Washington Ballet @ THEARC. About The Arts Fund at THEARC supports the art organizations on-site at THEARC – The Levine School of Music, The Washington Ballet, The Corcoran Gallery of Art – in their work as collaborative partners to promote, provide and enhance arts programming at THEARC. Funding goes towards joint education, activities and performances at THEARC, including a yearly Arts Festival, as well as to scholarship money for students who wish to participate in the wide array of music/dance/art classes and summer programs.

The “One in a Million Campaign for THEARC” is a $10 million grassroots endowment campaign launched in 2006 that seeks $10 from one million citizen donors to sustain the operations of THEARC.
