EXAMINER: New web series highlights DC's Anacostia community

During this upcoming Labor Day weekend, on Sept. 3, the web series Anacostia will debut online. The show, set in the historic Anacostia neighborhood in southeast DC, features a ensemble cast which includes Wil "Onix" Lash from the VH-1 reality show "I Love New York" and R & B singer Tia Dae. Produced by DC native Anthony Anderson, the series is set to rival prime-time soap operas Gossip Girl and Melrose Place in its presentation of sexy mayhem and mischief .
"The show is escapism," Anderson says. “It shows Anacostia in a completely different way that I don’t think people get a chance to see. People usually see 'local teen gets shot', but, they don’t see everyday that there are people out there working, striving and have great lives."
