ANC 8C Meeting: Wed, September 9th @ 6:30pm

Advisory Neighborhood Commission 8C will be holding it's (illegal) rescheduled monthly meeting Wednesday, September 9th @ 6:30pm  at the UPO Petey Greene Center located at 2907 MLK Ave SE.

Since this meeting was rescheduled without the  properly mandated notice to the community any actions voted on during this meeting will be considered invalid (The Advoc8te already has her letter to the DC Attorney General's Office  typed and ready to go).  No word if there is a plan by the ANC 8C Commission to discuss the investigation by the DC Office of the Inspector General into ANC 8C finances ; the recently conducted operations and financial audit of ANC 8C by the DC Auditor; or the request by the DC Auditor that $24,300 in unapproved rent payments be held from the Next ANC 8C allotement.  If history has taught us  anything do not expect a complete and thorough accounting of ANC 8C finances and operations in tomorrow night's meeting.

The Advoc8te is scanning the Sept 2009 audit report and will be posting it shortly.  Wouldn't  it be a wonderful change from the lack of transparency in ANC operations and a recommittment to  proper fiscal management if the Commission distributed copies of the audit report during tomorrow night's ANC meeting and opened it for discussion? Wouldn't that be great?

The Advoc8te is aware that several ANC 8C Commissioners read CHOTR. How about it? Why don't you put our money where your mouth is and discuss in detail the DC Auditor's concerns about the financial and operational managemenet of our ANC?

The Advoc8te strongly encourages the community to come out to this meeting and hold OUR Commission responsible for their actions (or lack thereof) and to commit to PROGRESS.

ANC 8C Meetings are normally held the first Wednesday of the month at the UPO Petey Greene Center at 2907 MLK Ave SE.  Meetings start at 6:30pm and generally end at 8:30pm. Refreshments are NOT served so it is recommended you bring your own.
