(Washington, DC)--- Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner Darrell D. Gaston (8B03) to host the First Annual Community Family Unity Day in lure of the recent violence and crime that has overshadow his Single Member District 8B03. Commissioner Gaston partners with The Metropolitan Police Department, Helping Inner City Kids Succeed,East of the River Clergy, Police, Community Partnership, and a host of Community & City Leaders to launch the ONE Campaign. The One Campaign is bringing these neighborhoods of his Single Member District 8B03 Woodland Terrace, Langston, Garfield, Hartford Street & Maplewood together. The theme of the One Campaign is ONE Commission Neighborhood Community. The One Campaign has pledge to hold at least ONE event monthly and bring a truce and working relationship within the boarders of Single Member District 8B03.
The First Annual Community Family Unity Day will take place on Sunday, September 13th, 2009 from 12noom to 6:00pm on the Grounds of the all New State of the Art Football field located at Staton Elementary School. The address for the School is 2701 Naylor Road, SE Washington, DC 20020. There will be table booths available for those community non profits or programs to come out and share information to the families and city officials in attendance. Those who are interested or know of organizations who would be interested in participating in this Community Family Unity Day should contact the Media Contact listed above.
We will also be having a a flag football event, and we have invited all City Council Members, their staff, and City Leaders to come out and support this event by playing. There will be a moon bounce, food, music and activities for the whole family.
