WASHPO: Police Investigating Two Fatal Shootings in District

D.C. police said that they are investigating a pair fatal shootings that happened within two hours of each other early today and that authorities had arrested a 39-year-old suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing Saturday.
The first shooting occurred shortly after 2 a.m., when officers responding to the scene found Demarcus Brown, 25, of Southeast, in the rear of 215 Newcomb St. SE. He had been shot multiple times, police said. At 4:11 a.m. police found a 23-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying in the street in the 900 block of Division Avenue NE. Dallas Monroe Williams, of Northwest, was taken to Prince George's County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On Saturday evening, police arrested Bernard Leon Gayles, 39, of no fixed address, and charged him with murder in the stabbing death of Nathaniel Wesley Hall, 54, of Southeast. Shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday, police found Hall suffering from multiple stab wounds on the sidewalk in front of 811 Barnaby St. SE. He was taken to Prince George's County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m.
