Free Performance at THEARC - March 1st @ 3pm

Guitarist/Educator Matt Dievendorf has been teaching a free guitar class (sponsored by the Zanar Foundation) for Levine School at THEARC and has worked hard to secure scholarships for many of his students so that they can continue to attend the Levine School. These students will be highlighted as he brings his own band, Aqui Oh! to THEARC on March 1st at 3pm.

Levine Contemporary Guitarist Matt Dievendorf was led to Brazilian Music through the gateway of Brazilian Jazz, Bossa Nova, and Samba. Like many jazz musicians, he studied the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim while pursuing his Jazz Performance degree at the University of Michigan. While teaching at Levine, he was asked to put together a masterclass on Brazilian guitar styles. He listened to and became enamored with a deeper level of Brazilian music, admiring and replicating guitarists such as Toninho Horta, Caetano Veloso and Romero Lubambo. Fascinated and driven to start an ensemble he has transcribed and arranged dozens of diverse compositions from the vast library of Brazilian music. Now, from Choro to Samba, Bossa Nova to MPB you're invited to join this stellar cast of performers for an energetic musical journey to Brazil.
