WARD 8 CITY ELECTION RACES!!! GET OUT AND VOTE!

FYI- Chanda was a candidate in a bid for the Ward 8 council seat before leaving the race due to a challenge to her primary petition and who's candidate statement is just baffling to say the least, Lockridge and Shelton are long time Ward 8 players but CHOTR has heard great things about Niccola Reed, she seems to have a great passion for the position and may be able to provide a fresh yet informed perspective.

FYI- To be honest Congress Heights On The Rise is still a little disappointed that Charles Wilson did not win (but did place 2nd) in the Primary so with the list of candidates narrowed down to Marion Barry (who surprise surprise will not be getting our vote) , Yavocka (who is qualified but doesn't seem to be campaigning aggressively) and Darrell (who doesn't seem as qualified but has been campaigning as aggressively as one can against the Barry machine) CHOTR faces a little dilemma - Yavocka vs. Darrell (I am sure a dilemma not unnoticed nor unappreciated by the Barry campaign). Perhaps CHOTR will pull a Carol Swartz and write in "Charles Wilson" and connect the line! Can you imagine the news story if our Ward 8 election was decided by a write in vote?

"• In Ward 8, take independent Yavocka Young over Marion Barry. LL was looking for a more spirited campaign out of Young; instead, the spirit’s come from fiery young challenger Darrell Gaston. Still, Young has the better grasp of how to bring the ward up to snuff."

CHOTR Endorsement: Toss up between Darrell Gatson , Yavocka Young or Charles Wilson (write in) . Of Gatson and Young - Young is the more qualified.
