π The HIVE 2.0, The Home of Innovators, Visionaries and Entrepreneurs [SP]
The HIVE 2.0 is a project of ARCH Development, a Ward 8 nonprofit with over 35 years serving the Historic Anacostia neighborhood. ARCH believes that small businesses, the creative economy, and the arts are the cornerstones of inclusive community development. ARCHβs goal is neighborhood revitalization, not gentrification. ARCHβs strategic plan is the result of years of working in Historic Anacostia, for Historic Anacostia alongside the community.
So in 2011, after launching several successful brick-and-mortar projects such as the Anacostia Business Center, Honfleur Gallery and Vivid Gallery , ARCH knew that the next step in supporting small business development in Anacostia was to provide a place for small businesses to work. And thus, The HIVE (The Home of Innovators, Visionaries, and Entrepreneurs) was born.
Since first opening our first co-working space on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, weβve expanded and moved into a much larger space on Good Hope Road, in the lower level of the Anacostia Arts Center. With our new space came a new name, The HIVE 2.0.
The Home of Innovators, Visionaries and Entrepreneurs
In the eight years since we first opened our doors, The HIVE 2.0 has supported the creation, development, and expansion of hundreds of small businesses (mostly minority and/or women-owned) and even more participants of our free workshops and conferences.
Thanks to the support of generous donors, partner organizations, and the DC Department of Housing and Community Development, our co-working space (the only east of the river) has provided both inclusion and opportunities for those that need them most.
We invite you to join our community, either as a member, a volunteer, a donor, or an advocate. You will always be welcome here.
We are The HIVE.
