ARTIST DEADLINE TO APPLY TODAY
Tommy McFLY & Rayceen Pendarvis join Politics & Art as co-hosts

In partnership with Washington Performing Arts' MARS Urban Arts Initiative, we're hosting the 6th annual Politics and Art, with this year’s theme being “District of Creativity”. This multi-stage event will be hosted at the John A. Wilson building on Wednesday, June 10starting at 5:30 pm. This event is a unique opportunity to see one of D.C.’s most valuable assets –the creative arts scene.

Politics & Art will spotlight D.C.-based artists who use the power of their voices to inspire, entertain, and empower. We invite artists who live in the District to apply to participate and to tell us how they would like to use their voices — whether in song, spoken word, or a host of other expressive modes — to channel stories and share messages. This is a showcase format, with multiple locations that will be activated within the Wilson Building. Each act will perform a set of 15 minutes.

This year we’re excited to announce that Tommy McFLY has joined Politics & Art as host of the main stage, along with Rayceen Pendarvis of The Ask Rayceen Show who will be hosting the Team Rayceen Community Stage.

The call to apply is open to artists of all ages residing in Washington, D.C. (or, in the case of an ensemble, where a majority of the artists reside in Washington, D.C.), in the following categories (all categories may not be represented in the final showcase): Vocal Performance with Accompanist; Vocal Performance A Cappella; Spoken Word and Vocal Percussion.

Artists and ensembles are invited to apply free of charge by TODAY, March 13, 2020, and will be selected by a panel of arts and community leaders.
