Spoken Word is a literary and performance art
in which lyrics, poetry, sketches, or stories are spoken instead of sung.
This time we take the words and SPEAK them over the beats of GoGo, the official music of DC!
ON APRIL 10TH THE WINNER WILL BE NAMED 2022 SPOKEN WORD TO GOGO CHAMPION, RECEIVE $500 AND A TROPHY!
Perform your poem LIVE over an original GoGo beat by The Experience Band and Show! Auditions hosted by WPGCâs own Poet Taylor with special guest judges Kokayi Issa, Todd B, Charity Blackwell, Dwayne Lawson-Brown, and Ron Moten!
The top five performers will move on to Round 2!

Step 1. Read the contest rules.
Step 2. Select ONE of the seven original Gogo beats below courtesy of The Experience Band and Show. You can only perform your original spoken-word piece live over one of these beats.
Step 3. Complete and submit the audition sign-up form.
