About yesterday... and going forward

Hello Friends!

Apologies for Congress Heights on the Rise being offline on Friday, December 2nd. I had hip surgery that morning and didn't have the time to pre-load content for the website. That's also why there wasn't a Daily Digest email for Friday. I was able to post a note about that around midnight on Twitter and Facebook but couldn't make a note of it here on the website before falling asleep.

The good news is that I'm back home and on the mend. I'm grateful for the dear friend who picked me up after my operation (my seventh in four years), made sure I was okay, and settled me at home.

Navigating the coronavirus pandemic as an immunocompromised person presents its challenges and has proven illuminating. So I'm evermore thankful for the friends who care enough about me NOT to forget about me. Unfortunately, I will be on crutches for a while, but that shouldn't get in the way of my work here, which I enjoy.

Last but not least, big virtual hugs to the readers who commented and reached out, supporting my need to take a mini-mental health break over the Thanksgiving holiday. The sense of community online and offline is genuinely moving and thoroughly appreciated.

It takes a village, and I am so thankful for this one!
