Get a DC Medical Marijuana Card WITHOUT a Doctor's Recommendation and FREE through August 18th!
But first my 2 cents…
The Advoc8te strongly encourages people 21 years and older who use (or want to use) marijuana medicinally to take advantage of this opportunity. Medicinal marijuana sold at a LICENSED DC MEDICAL CANNABIS DISPENSARY comes from cannabis growers that have passed the District’s quality control standards. That means that the product is tested and, most importantly, safe. Unfortunately, purchasing “weed” on the street or from a local “gifting shop” can not guarantee that; you don’t know what you are getting.
I first applied for and received a DC medical marijuana card years ago to treat some medical issues, including chronic insomnia and pain management. Prescription opioids have always made me nervous and came with unwanted side effects. I looked into medical cannabis after a suggestion from my healthcare provider.
So I can personally attest that once you’ve had medical cannabis from one of DC’s legally recognized dispensaries (two are east of the river), you will notice a difference in quality, and there are many more options. In addition, DC Medical Marijuana Cardholders typically have reciprocity rights in other states. So why not get a DC medical marijuana card (they are free until August 18, 2022) and are valid for two years!
And last but not least, support the black-owned licensed dispensaries located east of the river. They worked hard to get their businesses off the ground legally and deserve your support.
The new policy change…
Effective July 6, 2022, DC residents who are at least 21 years of age may self-certify on their patient application that they will use cannabis purchased from a licensed dispensary for medical purposes in lieu of securing a recommendation from their healthcare provider.
Registrations are free through August 18, 2022. Registrations issued by September 30, 2022, are valid for two (2) years from date of issuance.
DC residents, including minors, may legally be recommended, purchase, possess, and use, medical cannabis to treat a diagnosed qualified medical condition or related side effect. Non-resident patients may purchase medical cannabis from DC dispensaries if their jurisdiction has been extended reciprocity. A full list of eligible jurisdictions is detailed below.
Medical cannabis patients, including non-residents extended reciprocity, may purchase up to eight (8) ounces of cannabis within a rolling 30-day period and possess up to two (2) ounces at any time. Allowed formats include flowers, concentrates, edibles, transdermal products, seeds, and seedlings.
Federal laws continue to apply including the prohibition of transporting medical cannabis across state lines. The use of medical cannabis is not permitted in public.
