(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close northbound and southbound traffic lanes on I-295 for the installation of loop detectors  from October 15 to October 18, 2024, weather permitting.

1. Right Shoulder, Right Lane, and Middle Lane Closure on Southbound 295 from Overlook Dr to Weight Station  – Installation of loop detectors. October 15 to October 16, 2024, during the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM, weather permitting.

2. Mobile Lane Closure Across All Lanes on Northbound 295 from DC/MD Line to Exit 1 – Installation of new loop detectors. October 15 to October 17, 2024, during the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM, weather permitting.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas. Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the lane closures.  Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling in the vicinity of the work area and to pay attention to the detour signs that will be in place.
