Congress Heights on the Rise

❤️ #SoutheastLove for the UPO

Talk about coming full circle! In 2008, a year after moving to Congress Heights The Advoc8te was elected to the Ward 8 seat on the Board of Directors for the UPO. Back then it was known as the United Planning Organization but one thing hasn’t changed — the UPO’s service to low-income D.C. residents.

My memory of that time serving on the UPO board was being so impressed by the dedication & commitment of the staff and leadership in providing services to DC families and individuals, especially those living east of the river. I’ve attended more community meetings than I can count in UPO buildings in Congress Heights and Anacostia - if those walls could talk! 😂

So needless to say, I am a huge fan of the UPO and invite everyone to look into their services and programs and make a contribution of time or money to support the UPO’s efforts. The UPO really does do so much for the community. It’s only fitting we should give back. Happy Southeast Love Day to the entire UPO team!
