(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, March 2, 2020, through Monday, March 9, 2020, MPD detectives and officers recovered 37 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Monday, March 2, 2020

• A Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 5000 block of Benning Road, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 19-year-old Jarvis J. Burl, of Capitol Heights, MD, and 18-year-old Dwayne Antonio McCain, Jr., of Southeast, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Carrying a Pistol without a License. CCN: 20-037-604

Tuesday, March 3, 2020

• A FNH 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3300 block of Dubois Place, Southeast.  CCN: 20-038-508

• A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2700 block of Langston Place, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Jarrell Thompson, of Southeast, D.C., for Robbery, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-024-652

• A Glock 9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.  CCN: 20-038-142

• A Sig Sauer P320 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1300 block of Columbia Road, Northwest.  The following people were arrested: 33-year-old Dominique Debrarow Roberts, of Northwest, D.C., and 21-year-old Neal Hamilton, of Southeast, D.C., and 32-year-old Robert Carter, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Bench Warrant, Felon in Possession, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Manufacture, Distribute, Dispense, and Possess a Controlled Substance.  CCN: 20-039-279
