MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries:
August 5, 2019 to August 12, 2019
(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, August 5, 2019, through Monday, August 12, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 51 firearms in the District of Columbia.

A .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2700 block of Wade Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Davon Johnson, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession. CCN: 19-138-362
A Bayard .32 caliber handgun and a .32 caliber revolver were recovered in the 3800 block of Argyle Terrace, Northwest. CCN: 19-138-289
A Russo .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 1700 block of 3rd Street, Northeast. CCN: 19-138-423
A Berretta 950 .25 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of T Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 51-year-old Carlos E. Smith, of Southeast, D.C., for Simple Assault and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. CCN: 19-138-566
A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun and a Springfield Arms ASP KD45 .45 caliber handgun were recovered in the 4000 block of Wheeler Road, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 34-year-old Mario Romel Rojas, III, of Southeast, D.C., and 28-year-old Arman Johnson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Felon in Possession, National Firearms Act, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Fleeing from Law Enforcement in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Resisting Arrest. A Smith & Wesson 39-2 .9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1700 block of 17th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old David Allen Thompson, of Southeast, D.C., for Sexual Solicitation, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Manufacturing or Possession with Intent to Manufacture a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. CCN: 19-138-660
