(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off our streets. From Monday, January 18, 2021, through Monday, January 25, 2021, MPD detectives and officers recovered 33 firearms in the District of Columbia.

• A Mossberg 88 12 gauge shotgun was recovered in the 1000 block of 17th Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 35-year-old Timothy Patrick Kenny, of Shalimar, FL, for Driving under the Influence, Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. • An American Tactical Omni Hybrid 5.56 caliber rifle was recovered in the 3000 block of 30th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Rifle or Shotgun outside a Home or Business, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Glock 30 Gen 4 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of Victor Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Anthony Barton, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Obliterate, Remove, Change, or Alter the Serial Number of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Daisy Powerline .177 caliber BB gun was recovered in the 4600 block of Hanna Place, Southeast. CCN: 21-008-791

• A Smith & Wesson MP40 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 600 block of Edgewood Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 38-year-old Shawn Allen Perry, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 21-008-811

• A Kel-Tec 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Buchanan Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 32-year-old Vincent Angelo Shingler, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. • A Smith & Wesson SW40VE .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2200 block of Savannah Terrace, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 36-year-old Trey Shackleford, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.
