Hourly Hours: Sundays 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., 4 hours weekly

Position Summary: Childcare providers at Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church (MVPUMC) provide care and supervision to our children in the church nursery [Infants and Toddlers] and/or teach and assist in Sunday School/Children’s Worship [Pre-K to 6th Grade]. Childcare providers serve as the foundation in creating meaningful faith development spaces for our children. Childcare providers serve alongside and lead volunteers from the congregation.

Essential Functions:

• Set-up & clean-up of the Children’s Ministry Spaces

• Facilitate activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the developmental levels of the children

• Lead lessons and activities from the designated Sunday School curriculum

• Read with and teach children using materials theologically consistent with MVPUMC • Warmly greet children and their families when they arrive and depart

• Accurately track attendance at drop-off and pick-up

• Maintain a safe environment based on safety standards set by the church

• Support the social and emotional learning of children in a faith development context

• Change diapers or take children to the restroom when needed

• Distribute snacks for children

• Facilitate rest periods as needed

• Tidy the room and sanitize toys and play equipment after all children have left each Sunday

• Provide guidance, instructions, and support to volunteers

• Abide by MVPUMC’s uniform expectations
