JOB ALERT | Delivery Driver
Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored prepared meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of sixty employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple jurisdictions across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.
We seek a Delivery Driver. Driving a refrigerated cargo van, the Delivery Driver will:
load van with day’s deliveries;
deliver meals and groceries to client homes throughout the Washington Metro region;
offer a friendly greeting to clients, and report any changes in client living conditions;
place gas in the vehicle, and report any maintenance issues.
This is a Monday thru Friday position, with daytime working hours. This is a great way to earn a living while giving back to the community.
Requirements include a driver’s license (CDL not required) and good driving record, working knowledge of traffic and highway laws and regulations, ability to lift up to 30 lbs., familiarity with the Washington region, good people skills, and an appreciation for diversity. Prior professional driving experience strongly preferred. Must be able and willing to drive in a variety of weather conditions. Offer of employment contingent upon a pre-employment drug test and proof of vaccination against COVID-19, including booster (exemption from vaccination requirement will be considered for disability or a sincerely held religious belief, practice, or observance).
