Jan 18 | Inaugural MLK Feed The Hood Day of Action

MLK Feed the Hood Day of Action is intended to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King's vision of a "Beloved Community."

Dr. King once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" Therefore Commissioner Salim Adofo,  Serve DC and National Black United Front will provide opportunities to serve the community and your country in deep and meaningful ways. You can help us fight homelessness by providing 1,000 care packages for at-risk families in the Nation’s Capital.  If you are unable to volunteer, please feel free to make a donation to help us reach our goal.

Martin Luther King, Jr. believed in a nation of freedom and justice for all, and encouraged all citizens to live up to the purpose and potential of America by applying the principles of nonviolence. MLK Feed the Hood Day of Action is a way to honor his life and teachings by engaging in community action that continues to solve social problems. Service breaks down barriers by bringing people from different experiences together – volunteering can unite Americans of all ages and backgrounds while building stronger communities.

Volunteers are asked to donate $10 towards the preparation of the care packages.
