Centrolina features a concise and frequently-rotating Italian menu. Seasonal availability is the guiding principal of the menu, James Beard nominated, Chef Amy Brandwein maintains a sense of interconnectedness between her kitchen and Centrolina's retail wing. Rather than attempting to be a comprehensive Italian emporium, the market reflects Chef Brandwein's own experiences with Italian cooking and the products and produce she loves and uses.
MERCATO
The wine menu's marriage of the best Italian imports with regional favorites is echoed in the market where imported cheeses and specialty items share counter space with fantastic local produce, meat and seafood. Grocery items include dried pasta from all over Italy as well as fresh pasta made from the Centrolina kitchen, accompanied by house-made sauces. The dairy and produce sections are stocked with goods from farmers and artisans from Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. The lineup of Italian specialty items include anchovies, olives, vinegar, olive oil, salumi, imported and local cheeses and sweets. Wine and craft beer are also be available for sale.
The market features a barista-serviced coffee counter along with breakfast in the form of Italian pastries, quiches,sandwiches and scones. Grab-and-go lunch offerings include panini, antipasti, salads and pastries.
Responsibilities:
Provide outstanding customer service; ensure customer needs are met in a timely fashion
Prepare hot and cold drinks in accordance with customer needs
Maintain a clean and tidy work area
Follow health and safety guidelines
Interact with customers regularly and professionally
Itemizes and totals purchases
Collects payments by accepting cash and credit cards, making change for cash customers.
Balances cash drawer by counting cash at beginning and end of work shift.
Provides pricing and product information by answering questions.
Maintains checkout operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Assists in maintenance of store environment
Assists with stocking product in store
Maintain accurate department signage & pricing
Follow department procedures for labeling, preparing, storing, rotating and stocking of product
Requirements:
Must be able to work Weekends and Holidays. Shifts available 8am-5pm & 3pm-10pm
6 months of experience handling cash and working directly with customers
Bonus Points:
Experience within a market, coffee shop or restaurant with an established coffee program.
