Good Evening Friends and Family:

On May 26, 2020, our beloved Baba Melvin Deal was hospitalized with a lengthy illness.  As a result, he was placed on life support, and the doctors did not believe there was a reasonable chance of his recuperating.  On June 24, Baba Melvin beat the odds and when the life support was removed, he was able to sustain breathing on his own.  July 4, was a true independence day for him as he was discharged from the hospital and sent to a rehabilitation center, where he is currently receiving care to aid him with swallowing,  talking, and regaining his lower body strength.  

He sends his love to all and we will be contacting you soon as he will be allowed to receive visitors by Skype beginning in 2 weeks.  I will keep everyone posted as to specific dates, times, and the policies of the rehabilitation center.  We his family are working together to attempt to secure money for Baba Melvin to help him once discharged.  We are seeking to get him into a Senior Citizen Apartment or an Assisted Living Facility.  We are asking that you please help us to help him.  When he is home from rehabilitation, he will need his own place and to be able to take care of his costs of living for 2-3 months post discharge to assist him in continuing to lead the independent life that he has become accustomed to and loves.
