We seek individuals who are passionate about transforming the DC school system and making a significant difference in the lives of public school students, parents, principals, teachers, and central office employees.

DCPS serves 50,000 students in the nation's capital through the efforts of approximately 4,000 educators in 118 schools. As part of a comprehensive reform effort to become the preeminent urban school system in America, DCPS intends to have the highest-performing, best paid, most satisfied, and most honored educator force in the nation and a distinctive central office staff whose work supports and drives instructional excellence and significant achievement gains for DCPS students.

Job Summary:

#ReopenStrong at DC Public Schools (DCPS) means a safe return to learning for every student and staff member. Our top priority is the safety, health, and well-being of our students, families, and staff. Even as we began the school year with an all-virtual learning model, our preparations for welcoming staff and students back into our buildings continue with a focus on returning students to schools through two school-based experiences:

  1. In-person, classroom learning for students furthest from opportunity; and

  2. A supportive care model in elementary schools across the District, which will provide students with safe and structured environments as they engage in virtual learning.

This position functions as Student Support Care Assistant, providing dedicated onsite staff support to students as they navigate virtual learning and participate in engaging activities. Student Support Care Assistants will play a critical role in ensuring that DC students in grades PK3 - 5 will have access to safe, secure, and supportive environments in which to learn and connect with peers and caring adults.
