Arrest Made in Robbery, Burglary, and Theft One (Stolen Auto) Offenses in the District

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Carjacking Task Force announce an arrest has been made in Robbery, Burglary, and Theft One (Stolen Auto) offenses that occurred in the District.
On Monday, May 10, 2021, at approximately 3:40 pm, four suspects entered an establishment in the 1600 block of New York Avenue, Northeast. The suspects went behind the sales counter, assaulted an employee and took the victim’s property, including vehicle keys. The suspects then took property from the establishment. One of the suspects entered the employee’s vehicle and fled the scene while the other suspects fled the scene in a separate vehicle. On Monday, May 10, 2021, at approximately 1:35 am, three suspects approached the victim in the 3100 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest. The suspects assaulted the victim and took the victim’s property. The suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle. Robbery (Force and Violence) CCN: 21-060-147
On Monday, May 10, 2021, at approximately 1:39 am, two suspects approached the victim in the 1600 block of Park Road, Northwest. The suspects assaulted the victim and took the victim’s property. The suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle driven by a third suspect. Robbery (Force and Violence) CCN: 21-060-151
On Friday, May 14, 2021, at approximately 2:56 am, a suspect forcibly entered an establishment in the 4900 block of Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest, while the other suspect remained outside in a vehicle. Once inside, the suspect took property, including vehicle keys. One of the suspects then entered the employee’s vehicle and fled the scene while the other suspect fled the scene in a separate vehicle. Burglary Two and Theft One (Stolen Auto) CCN: 21-062-398
On Sunday, May 16, 2021, at approximately 4:49 am, the suspect entered an establishment in the 900 block of New Hampshire Avenue, Northwest. The suspect went behind the sales counter, approached an employee, and demanded US currency. The suspect fled the scene without obtaining any property. Attempted Robbery CCN: 21-063-412
On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at approximately 10:24 pm, the suspect forcibly entered an establishment in the 2200 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Southeast. Once inside, the suspect approached an employee and demanded US currency. The suspect fled the scene without obtaining any property. Attempted Robbery CCN: 21-064-932
On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at approximately 1:55 am, the suspect approached the victim in the 5600 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest. The suspect stated that he had a gun and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene. Robbery (Fear) CCN: 21-065-010
On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, members of the Criminal Apprehension Unit arrested 25-year-old Carlos Shelley, of Southeast, DC. He was charged in the above offenses.
These cases remain under investigation.
