Amazon in the Community seeks Head of Community Development

The Amazon in the Community (AITC) team seeks an experienced leader to create and own the community development strategy and related investments for the Amazon in the Community global team. They will develop long-term and innovative programs that address civic priorities in the communities where Amazon employees live and work. They will manage AITC’s existing homeless and housing investments and develop new programs. The scope includes working closely with external stakeholders and coordinating efforts of teams across Amazon including global real estate, policy, finance, and legal. The person hired will be based in Seattle or Arlington, VA and will travel regularly – primarily within the United States.

This opportunity requires excellent project management skills, the ability to navigate ambiguous environments, dive into details and see the big picture. The person hired will also determine how to effectively measure success using traditional and non-traditional metrics. Candidates must have a proven record of defining and moving projects from concept to completion and experience with piloting ideas and scaling what works. Given the start-up nature of this team, candidates must be builders and no task can be beneath them. This position reports to the Director, Amazon in the Community.

Key Responsibilities:
· Define and implement new community development strategies and programs aligned with Amazon in the Community priorities.
· Define success metrics of existing and future programs and create mechanisms to collect data and monitor program results.
· Manage high-profile relationships with community partners and civic leaders.
· Manage cross-company relationships and projects with multiple stakeholders and objectives.
· Professionally communicate and present to key decision-makers and leaders.
· Meet with and receive feedback from project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
· Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
· Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify issues, and devise contingency plans with your stakeholders.
· Communicate program objectives and goals externally and internally via effective written and communication and public speaking.
